Throughout our lives we adopt ways or habits that help us manage situations. Many of these habits do not provide positive long term results. For example, every time you feel anxious in a situation you leave and once you have left you feel better in that moment. However in future you may not be able to go into that situation again. The habit/ action therefore becomes problematic, it was developed because you had "no choice". Through repetition, the habit becomes an automatic response. Although, you may recognise you should take a better action the automatic response habit takes over, often leaving you feeling anxious, stressed, obsessive, angry and upset towards yourself for not being able to cope in a better way.
CBT will help you understand how to deal with these automatic response habits. by exploring your inner thoughts and feelings.
